As the language department we are excited to contribute to this first edition of a school magazine. Language is such an important medium of our life. It enables us to communicate our ideas effectively and express our thoughts. St. Clare offer two languages i.e. English and Kiswahili. The English being the official language as well as international language, we put emphasize on our students to use it in communication and writing.
Kiswahili on the other hand being the pride of our country and national language therefore cannot be left behind. The correct Kiswahili should be used on the Swahili days .as Kiswahili teacher would say ‘Kiswahili Sanifu’.
Therefore students you have the responsibility of speaking in the correct language in or out of class language is the backbone of your education because every subject is tasted in English expect for Kiswahili you must be able to communicate well in English so as to do well in your exams by communication your ideas/ answers to the teacher. Your handwriting should also be on the top notch. Thus, I urge you all to take pride in both languages. Let’s put behind all sheng and use of vernacular while in school.
